Nominations for the Extra Mile Trophy
Do you know someone who you feel really deserves recognition for their work with rescue dogs? The Extra Mile Trophy has been donated to Rescue Agility Scotland by Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue, and this award is quite different from the others. It will not be awarded on the basis of how successful a dog has been in competition, but will be presented to a person or organisation in recognition of that person’s or organisation’s work with rescue dogs. Ideally, there should be a link to agility, so the winner could be a trainer who is making an extra effort to help agility handlers with rescue dogs, a behaviourist who has helped a rescued agility dog overcome a problem, a rescue organisation which makes a real effort to find suitable homes for dogs with agility potential, or even an agility handler who works closely with rescue dogs, e.g. by fostering or volunteering at rescues. It could even be an agility handler who has adopted a special-case dog in the full knowledge that he or she will never have the pleasure of doing agility with that dog, but even so has been prepared to give the dog a place to call its own. These are just a few examples, and we are really looking forward to receiving your nominations. Please e-mail your nomination, including an account of why you think your nominated person or organisation deserves the award, to rescueagilityscotland@gmail.
The latest day-to-day news can always be found on the Rescue Agility Scotland Facebook page, and the 2013 rules and other information are available on our website.
